ABOUT THE COURSE: When selecting patient seating, special consideration should evolve around the need for acute medical attention should the patient require an immediate intervention. Form must follow functional requirements of a healthcare space, and the need for furniture to have clinical functionality is key to a successful treatment environment.

HSW JUSTIFICATION:  Master planning of interior healthcare treatment spaces, involving criteria for safety and the acute/clinical needs of patient seating.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 

  • Define why clinical functionality is crucial and required for safety.
  • Design effective treatment spaces for the most acute patients.
  • Identify the most critical, patient-centered element - the treatment recliner.
