Does Trendelenburg come standard on our chairs?
No, not everyone needs or wants the Trend feature, so we provide it as an option for our "Classic" series numbers and the Ascent & Ascent II lines.  Trend is a standard feature on all Passage and Concord models.

Does my recliner have a quick release seat?
Yes, if your recliner was fabricated after March 1999 it does have a quick release seat.  This has been a standard feature of every "Classic" series recliner since.  All Ascent and Ascent II recliners have the quick release seat feature as well.  The Passage and Concord recliners do NOT have a quick release seat.

How does the quick release seat work?

  1. Lock the front casters of the chair. Release the footrest and push the chair back into the full recline position.
  2. Locate thumb screws under the front two corners of the chair seat. These screws will be bright yellow (or black on older model recliners).
  3. Remove the screws and place the chair back into the full, upright position by first lifting the seat-back fully upright and then pushing the leg rest back down against the chair firmly until it latches.
  4. Standing in front of the chair, lift the seat front slightly and pull the seat toward you, pulling it out like a drawer. Once the seat is removed, you have full access to the inside of the chair for cleaning and maintenance.
  5. When you are finished, replace the seat by setting it back on the mechanism, making sure that the metal clip on each side of the seat bottom is under the flange on the mechanism. Slide the seat back into the chair. Make sure the bolts on the front corners of the seat are seated in the holes in the mechanism and replace the thumb screws to secure the seat. Top
Can I power wash my recliner?
No, never.  We do not advise that the recliner or frame is power-washed.

What is the weight capacity of my recliner?
Standard "Classic" series recliners have a 300# patient weight capacity, as well as the Ascent, Ascent II and Passage recliners. Bariatric recliners have a 500# patient weight capacity. Recliners marked with a red "capacity" label on the bottom of the frame (in the back of the recliner) have a 300# patient weight capacity.  The Concord recliner has a 275# patient weight capacity.

How do I specify a recliner by model number or "series" number?
What are you looking for? Narrow down your search this way to find the recliner that best suits your needs. Go to the PRODUCTS navigation button located at the top of the page and make your selection based on BY APPLICATION (department in a facility) or BY CATEGORY (of product).  Once you have located the product that best suits your needs, select either the Power recline or Manual version of that product to take you to the product landing page...you will find links to the product cut sheet towards the bottom of the page. If you know the name of the product you are looking for and you just would like to print a cut sheet, you can go to the BROCHURES navigation at the top of the page and select the cut sheet you need for specifications.  Contact your local Champion representative or us here at Corporate and say you'd like to order a custom "54" or "54 Series" (for example) and we can help you choose the options and accessories that will work the best for your needs.

How do I deploy the Trendelenburg option?
For our "Classic" series and all Ascent recliners that have this option: to deploy "Trend", patient must be in full recline position (if seated, release the footrest actuator located on the outside of either side of the arms of the recliner. This will bring the patient's feet up. From there, push the back of the recliner down using either the push handle located in the back or by simply applying pressure to the back of the recliner near the patient's head). Pull and hold the trend lever, which is located on the back of the recliner near the patient's head. Lower the chair back to the desired position while holding the trend lever. (Please note that if you choose to use a "partial" trend position instead of full trend, you must trend all the way down to the "full" trend position prior to elevating the patient back into the TV position.)

To release patient back into the full recline position from Trend, depress the latch and gently pull the seat back up into the recline/TV position.

For the Passage and Concord, use the foot-release Trend, located at the bottom of the recliner.  Make sure the patient is in full recline first, then depress the foot-release Trend lever.  While the Trend lever is engaged, gently push the seat back down into Trend and release the foot lever.  To release the patient back into the full recline position from Trend, simply push the back of the seat up to the seated position.

What cleaning solutions are safe for my upholstery?
Follow the fabric manufacturer's cleaning recommendations.  The use of vinyl "conditioners" or "protectants" is not recommended.  Some institutional cleaners or disinfectants may cause discoloration of the fabric.  Use of cleaners, other than those recommended by the fabric manufacturer, is at the clinics own risk.  Certain medications may produce a metabolite in the patient's perspiration which can stain or discolor fabric.  If you have any questions, please call Nancy LaPierre in our Customer Service department at 1-800-998-5018 x253.
